The Dynamic Positioning (DP-2) Simulator
The DP Basic Course is conducted on 4 KPos simulators. We have restricted the maximum intake of the Basic DP Course to only 4 trainees so that each candidate gets an independent simulator to himself. The facility far exceeds the requirements mandated by Nautical Institute (NI).
The DP Advanced Course is conducted on the latest state-of-the-art Kongsberg Full Mission Simulator and KPos DP II system with Independent Joystick System (IJS). The Simulator includes a Multi-Purpose Supply Vessel and a Semi-Submersible MODU. In addition there is a Bridge Console with ARPA, ECDIS, and an Electronic Field Chart (Navscreen) which includes a generic oil field for planning purposes.
There are also three independent Position Reference Systems (PRS) consoles in the form of the HiPAP APOS, the RADius Operator Station and two DGPS monitors. The DP Advanced Course candidates will thus get a chance not only to enhance their DP skills but also get a practical training on APOS and RADius OS.
The simulator is capable of simulating not just an offshore vessel but also a semi-submersible drilling unit and a shuttle tanker, thereby offering the opportunity to assimilate diverse DP operations including those conducted by a shuttle tanker.
The simulator is shortly to be upgraded to NI Class A and the DP Sea-time Reduction Course (presently conducted by only 6 institutes worldwide) will be offered then.
An additional advantage is the employment opportunities with Executive Offshore Pvt Ltd (EOPL), with a rapidly expanding offshore fleet.
