Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) is a one (1)-year post graduate course for students with a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture from any AICTE approved engineering college in India. Upon successful completion, an engine cadet will qualify for a 6 months onboard training as a Junior Engineer on a seagoing vessel, receiving free boarding & lodging apart from a monthly stipend during onboard training. Thereafter, he appears for the Certificate of Competency (COC) Examination (Class IV) conducted by the Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India. Upon receiving the COC, he is eligible to serve as a Fourth Engineer officer onboard a ship.

  • Recognized by AICTE/ UGC Deemed University approved Institute during the entire duration of engineering with a minimum marks of 55% in final year OR

    Completion of the degree in 4 years from the date of admission. Numbers of ATKT’s / Arrears /Repeats/ Failures obtained during the entire degree programme: Not more than 6 attempts in all.

    Candidates who have appeared for the 8th Semester examinations and the results are yet to be declared, are also eligible to appear.
    Medical Physically fit and meet the standards laid out by DG Shipping & ESM / SIMS*
    Language English shall be one of the subjects with minimum marks scored 50% in class X or XII
    Eyesight 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in the better eye & 6/18 in the other eye.
    Corrective lenses permitted. No colour-blindness.
    Passport Candidate must be in possession of a valid passport prior to joining the course
