Heading for four-year Marine Engineering Degree

To complement present three year nautical science degree courses, SIMS, Lonavala is now venturing into introducing four-year marine engineering degree by next year.

Our quest for commencement of the four years degree program in Marine Engineering received a big boost when both the Academic council and Dean of Engineering Faculty from University of Pune approved the syllabus and structure for the Marine Engineering course proposed to be held at SIMS Lonavala campus.

Currently SIMS Lonavala is closely working for  the AICTE approval as well as formal affiliation to Pune University for conducting the degree program in Marine Engineering.

An Ad-Hoc board of Studies in Marine Engineering has been constituted by University of Pune under the chairmanship of Prof. M. S. Sutaone with two of SIMS faculty Members Dr. (Ms). Shakuntala Laskar and Mr. Shirish Kumar inducted in the board.

Meanwhile, the pioneer batch of the Deck cadet of SIMS, Lonavala is passing in a ceremonial parade to be held on July 2, Sunday.
